We are extremely excited to announce that we have reduced and streamlined our underwriting questions by removing some questions and collecting more specific information – making it simpler and faster to get your clients covered!
”These updates will better guide you through our application and will help ensure overall efficiency while we focus on the key risk factors,“ says Wendy McDonough, our Chief Underwriter and Vice President of Underwriting, Claims and Reinsurance Administration. We are now asking for specific information to eliminate redundancy as you flow through the application.
Please note: For your applications that are currently “in progress” status, you will need to go back to the underwriting questions and provide new responses.
Here are some of the updates you can look forward to in your next application:
Streamlined questions for efficiency
- In the Family History section, a new dropdown list to select the type of cancer has been added with a new option “unknown”. That means less manual input from you!
- In the Personal History section, the questions related to smoking, alcohol and drug consumption have been updated to ask for a specific timeframe. The lengthy data charts have been replaced with precise questions, making it simpler for you to provide accurate information more quickly.
- The driving history questions related to minor violations focus on “more than one” incident within the last two years. This means that if your client has only one ticket, simply click “no” and you can keep moving on with their application.
Relevant data collection
- The heart condition questions ask for more relevant details for each condition which will reduce duplication and eliminate having to answer the same questions multiple times.
- The cancer and tumour questions are more specific – separating benign and serious conditions – to improve straight-through processing.
- The diagnostic testing questions are now dynamic and customized based on the type of test and the reason for the test.
Enhanced user experience
- For the blood pressure and cholesterol questions – you are going to love our new list of commonly used medications to select from instead of having to manually input a response. This change can reduce unnecessary back and forth correspondence with your clients.
- Overall, you will notice more relevant questions, nicely organized categories, and more form field options to click through, requiring fewer manual inputs. This leads to fewer follow-ups, fewer declines, and faster coverage.
