5 things men can do to stay healthy

1 – Avoid brain drain

You can help save your memory by engaging in at least 3 hours of aerobic exercise a week. Aerobic exercise can help improve blood flow to the brain and help keep it healthier as you age.

2 – Become a zen-master

Or at least work on controlling your stress. Stress may actually harm you by increasing inflamation in your body and raising your risk of developing heart disease.

3 – It’s not as bad as you think

Because men are more likely to be diagnosed with colorectal cancer, if you’re over 50, it’s time to start regular screenings and that means it’s time for a colonscopy. While not fun, this test is actually quick and painless.

4 – Get tested

All men over the age of 50 should consider getting a prostate specific antigen (PSA) test. Although it’s not perfect, this simple blood test can help catch prostate cancer early. Prostate cancer is a very slow-growing cancer so, if caught early, it is very treatable.

5 – With a little help from my friends

It’s long been known that having a strong network of friends and family is good for your health and is associated with greater longevity. So, be social - even Facebook friends count!
